Vanity
Vanity is an illustrated exploration of a feeling as old as humanity itself: vanity. Neither quite a vice nor quite a weakness, it fascinates as much as it unsettles — that obsession with one's own image, the need to be seen, remembered, admired.
The project starts from a line by Osamu Dazai: "Vanity is a poison that renders everything it touches ephemeral and futile." From that idea came a self-portrait set in an endless reflection, where the figure contemplates itself without end — convinced of its own perfection, sure it will be remembered, blind to time slipping away and everything around it dissolving.
What we did
Concept, art direction and illustration, composition and mise-en-abyme work, production and retouching — an image meant to be beautiful at first glance, yet quietly unsettling on a second look.
